InfoWally Straughn was born at Portsmouth Virginia in 1957, and grew up in rural North Carolina. Growing up poor, in a one parent household with six siblings, he understands the meaning of hard work and the rewards of a strong work ethic. He owns and manages Straughn Home Health Care to provide care for the physically disabled. His experience makes him a strong advocate for workers and a staunch supporter of workers rights.

Wally is a veteran of the U S Navy and a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, a former Vietnam Veterans of America State Council Director, member of the Scottish American Military Society, AmVets, and the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona Support Committee. He supports the dedication of the men and women in the military and recognizes the sacrifice made by them.

Wally was attracted to Arizona by the warm winters, healthy climate and economic growth opportunities. As a state legislator since 2003, he is determined to promote efforts that will encourage the states prosperity, and applying financial benefits to all Arizonas residents. He currently serves on the Commerce and Military Affairs Committee, Public Institutions and Counties Committee, and the Judiciary Committee in the House of Representatives. His priorities include protection of education funding and affordable health care options. He has served as a member of the Alhambra Village Planning Committee, as a former president of the Greater Coronado Neighborhood Association and is the current leader of the Northview Avenue Blockwatch.
