| Info | A respected and revered family physician and sought after medical expert consultant, Dr. Steve Sauerberg has spent over 25 years taking care of families and making sure they receive the medical care they needed-no matter where, no matter when, no matter how.
Born in Berwyn and raised in LaGrange, Steve is the son of a pharmacist who owned three local pharmacies, and a stay at home mother. He attended public schools where he played golf and was all-state in soccer.
A loving husband and father, Steve Sauerberg and his wife, Nancy, will be celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary this summer. They have two adult children, Neal and Laura, who fondly remember their father's dedication in coaching their Little League, Pony League and softball teams.
After three years of undergraduate studies at MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois, Steve was accepted into Rush Medical College's unique Rush-Knox program. Selected students were chosen to finish their fourth year of college and first year of medical school simultaneously. His classmates elected Steve to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He received his BS in Chemistry from MacMurray in 1975 and completed medical school in December of 1977. Steve financed his education through a combination of scholarships and loans.
Returning home to LaGrange Memorial Hospital's Family Practice Residency Program, Steve showed his leadership early and was appointed chief resident in his final year. He went on to serve as Associate Director of the Residency Program, teaching family medicine for the next four years at La Grange Memorial Hospital. He was also appointed Assistant Professor at Rush Medical College. He is still teaching Rush students in his office today.
Dr. Steve Sauerberg is a respected and revered family physician. He has spent over 25 years caring for families and assuring they receive the medical care they need. His unique gift is his ability to connect with his patients both personally and emotionally as well as medically.
He started his own practice in 1985 and by 2000 it had grown to six physicians. Throughout his career, Steve has been a pioneer in the use of computerized medical records, and specializes in applying new technologies to create cost-effective medical practices. Family Medical Center of La Grange is among the largest, most successful family medicine group practices in Chicago's western suburbs.
In addition to private practice, Steve is a sought after expert witness on medical malpractice issues in the state of Illinois. He has testified on behalf of both the plaintiff and the defendant in numerous cases. The legal profession respects Dr. Sauerberg's reliability, credibility and honesty.
