InfoJack Uldrich's professional biography describes him as "a renowned global technology forecaster, independent scholar, sought-after business speaker, and best-selling author." He is much more than that. Jack is the most qualified candidate in this year's Minnesota U.S. Senate race.

He is the only veteran in the race, having served as a naval intelligence officer onboard the USS John F. Kennedy from 1987-1989. After leaving active duty, Jack was selected to the prestigious Presidential Management Intern program and served as a civilian strategic planner in the Pentagon and a policy advisor to the U.S. Ambassador at NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.

In the mid-1990s, concerned over America's growing annual budget deficits, Jack returned home to become the Minnesota director of the Concord Coalition - a non-partisan organization dedicated to educating the public of the perils of the then $4 trillion national debt.

Frustrated with the pace of progress on reducing the budget deficit, in 1996, Jack challenged the former chair of the House Appropriations Committee, Martin Sabo, in Minnesota's 5th Congressional District race.

Two years later, after Jesse Ventura's stunning election, Jack was appointed to serve as the deputy director of the Minnesota Office of Strategic and Long-Range Planning where he worked from 1999-2003. In this capacity, Jack promoted a series of public-private initiatives in the emerging fields of biotechnology, clean energy and nanotechnology.

In 2003, Jack Uldrich left state government to pursue an independent career as an author, leadership consultant and a professional technology forecaster. He has since published six books, including the best-selling The Next Big Thing is Really Small: How Nanotechnology Will Change the Future of Your Business (2003); Jump the Curve: 50 Essential Strategies to Help Businesses Deal with Emerging Technologies (2007); and, most recently, Green Investing: How to Make Money Through Environment-Friendly Stocks (2008) - a book on "clean energy."

Jack is also the author of two award-winning leadership books: Into the Unknown: Leadership Lessons from Lewis & Clark's Daring Westward Adventure (2004) as well as the book which inspired his run for the U.S. Senate, Soldier, Statesman and Peacemaker: The Leadership Lessons of George C. Marshall (2005).

Over the years, Jack has been actively involved in the naval reserves and has volunteered in his community in a variety of capacities, including serving on the board of directors of Fair Vote Minnesota (2000-2001); Fresh Energy (formerly known as ME3) (2003-2005); and the Citizens League (2005-2008). From 2001-2003, he also served as the chair of the Independence Party of Minnesota.

Jack lives in Minneapolis with his wife, Cindy, and their two young children, Meghan and Sean. He is a graduate of St. John's Prep (1982); Drake University (1986) and he received his masters degree in public administration from the University of Minnesota's Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs (1991).

His hobbies include running, reading and hanging out with his family.
