InfoBarney Brannen, 39, lives in the village of Lyme, New Hampshire. He is a lawyer, husband, father and community activist.

Laura Brannen, Barney's wife of 13 years, is the Environmental Programs Coordinator for the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Their daughters, Grayson (13) and Conner (12), attend the Lyme School, where their dad is chair of the School Board.

Barney's father (also Barney) spent a career in the U.S. Army, which gave the Brannen children the opportunity to live all over the United States and abroad - Barney was born in Ft. Belvoire, Virginia, then moved to military installations in California, Germany, Virginia, Georgia, Kansas and Pennsylvania.

After graduating from the University of Virginia in 1982 with a degree in accounting, Barney became a C.P.A. and spent three years working for a "Big 8" accounting firm, Arthur Andersen & Co., before entering graduate school at Harvard. Barney received joint degrees, with honors, from Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School in 1989.

In 1990, Barney and Laura chose Lyme, to raise their children in a small community and to be close to the outdoor pursuits they love. The family has volunteered their time working on hiking and biking trails in the Upper Valley.

In addition to chairing the school board in Lyme, Barney has been actively involved in his children's extra-curricular activities, coaching their soccer and ice hockey teams, and is an emergency first responder with the Lyme FAST Squad.

As a trial lawyer, Barney's work takes him all over Vermont and New Hampshire.
