Website: To go to Bill Boom's web site, click here.
Occupation: Senior Executive Sales Engineer, Square D
Education: Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management and Associate of Science in Industrial Engineering from Milwaukee School of Engineering
Community/Political Service: Kiwanis International (38 years), US Coast Guard Auxiliary (26 years), Junior League of the Quad Cities, Amphion Mississippi River Utilization Study Committee Member, formed ILLOWA River Rescue Association for QC area, Venetian Night Lighted Boat Parade Steering Committee President, founding president of Gold Coast and Hamburg Historic District, Davenport Plan & Zone and Enterprise Zone Commissions, Davenport Action Initiative Steering Committee, DAI committee to revise ordinances governing Davenport rental program.
Top Issues: Crime and nuisance behavior in the 3rd Ward. Adding more businesses and residential options downtown. Ending the "circus-like environment" of the current city council.
Boom proposes to create a 3rd Ward Stakeholders Team that will allow people a voice on issues facing the ward.
"This Ward needs representation that can deal honestly and effectively with all the major stakeholders. My history has given me an insight to the interests of many of the stakeholder groups involved in our Ward. I have established a respectful working relationship with members of the city council, city staff, DavenportOne, business and neighborhood interests. From these relationships, I will be able to pull these different groups together to move forward issues that affect all of these groups and the 3rd Ward. We need to build rather than tear down, join rather than divide. Our problems may seem large to some, but together, we can conquer even the most daunting of them."
