Info | GASTON, Athelston, a Representative from Pennsylvania; born in Castile, Wyoming County, N.Y., April 24, 1838; moved with his parents to Crawford County, Pa., in 1854; attended the common schools; engaged in agricultural pursuits until 1873, when he became a dealer in and manufacturer of lumber; mayor of Meadville, Pa., 1891-1895; elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-sixth Congress (March 4, 1899-March 3, 1901); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1900 to the Fifty-seventh Congress; resumed the lumber business; killed while on a hunting trip along Lake Edward in northern Quebec, Canada, September 23, 1907; interment in Greendale Cemetery, Meadville, Pa.
