Infoanet L. Duprey was elected November 7, 2006 to represent the 114th Assembly District, which includes all of Clinton and Franklin Counties, as well as the town of St. Armand in Essex County.

A lifelong public servant, Janet was elected to the Clinton County Legislature at the age of 29. Following five terms as a legislator, including two years as the Legislature's chairperson, she was elected County Treasurer in 1986, a position she held until her resignation in December 2006.

Bringing decades of experience as a local official to Albany, Janet will share her expertise as a member of the NYS Office of Real Property Services Tax Enforcement Advisory committee. She has also served on the NYS Association of Counties Task Force for Medicaid Reform and Taxation & Finance Committee, the NYS Housing and Community Renewal Rural Advisory Board and the NYS Statewide Social Services Advisory Committee.

Assemblywoman Duprey’s main priorities in Albany will be to lower property taxes for homeowners and businesses; provide a voice for local governments when it comes to unfunded state mandates and caps; ensure that health care facilities are able to give efficient, cost effective, quality care, especially in the rural areas of Northern New York; mandate on-time budgets, enabling school districts to plan more effectively; and encourage inter-municipal cooperation.

Committed to ensuring that North Country families receive quality health care, Janet has served on the board of directors of the Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital Medical Center, the Clinton-Northern Essex Chapter American Red Cross and was a charter member of the Hospice Care Board of Directors.

Janet was selected as the 1984 Woman of the Year by the Champlain Valley Business & Professional Women’s Club. She was also honored by her peers across the State as the New York State County Finance Official of the Year in 2004.

Assemblywoman Duprey has a long record of concern for both the education of our young people and the quality of life for those in retirement. Janet has lent her expertise to the Wadhams Hall Seminary Board of Trustees, Clinton Community College Nursing Division Advisory Committee, the Apple Valley Senior Housing Corporation, and the Pine Harbour Assisted Living Center.

Janet is married to Elmer Duprey, and they have two grown children, John and Michelle, and four grandchildren.
