A lifelong Sacramentan, he’s served his hometown as a Housing and Redevelopment Commissioner, City Councilmember and State Assemblymember. Kevin’s work championing our neighborhoods has resulted in millions invested in the arts and to improve our parks, libraries, community centers and little league fields.
After receiving his high school diploma through adult education, he attended American River Community College and earned degrees from CSU Long Beach and CSU Sacramento.
Kevin is an avid sports fan, and in his spare time enjoys gardening, spending time along the American River, and coaching youth softball and baseball.
McCarty and his wife live in Sacramento with their twin teenage daughters Victoria and Barbara.
