|Info||Marriage and Family: |
I believe that the institution of marriage between one man and one woman was created by God. The family is the foundational unit of our society. As a husband for twenty years and a father of five children I will look at each bill that comes before me and ask "will this bill, if it becomes law, help or hurt families?"
I am unapologetically pro-life. I believe that an unborn baby is worthy of constitutional protection from the moment of conception. I have been involved in the pro-life community for almost twenty years. I will vigorously promote SJR127 which is the proposed constitutional amendment that will restore the legislatures authority to regulate abortion.
I believe in and will defend the second amendment which protects the individuals right to “keep and bear arms”.
I will oppose and vote against any attempt to enact a state income tax. Government does not have a revenue problem but a spending problem. The solution is not more taxes but better control on state spending and insisting on more accountability with our tax dollars.
I will fight for parental rights and local control in public education.
Private Property Rights:
Private property rights are under attack in in our country today through the use of eminent domain. I believe eminent domain should only be used for public use needs not public good needs. Municipalities should not be able to use eminent domain to condemn property just to increase tax revenue.
