Info | MAYNARD, John, a Representative from New York; born in Whitestone, N.Y., birth date unknown; was graduated from Union College, Schenectady, N.Y., 1810; studied law; was admitted to the bar and commenced practice at Seneca Falls, N.Y.; clerk of Seneca County, 1821 and 1822; member of the state assembly, 1822; elected as an Adams candidate to the Twentieth Congress (March 4, 1827-March 3, 1829); district attorney of Seneca County in 1836 and 1837; elected as a Whig to the Twenty-seventh Congress (March 4, 1841-March 3, 1843); member of the state senate 1838-1841; moved to Auburn, N.Y.; served as judge of the state supreme court, seventh district, from June 7, 1847, until his death in Auburn, N.Y., March 24, 1850.
