Info | At age 22, the Milwaukee-area native became the youngest state legislator in the nation when she won a seat in the Wisconsin State House in 1974. She lost a race for the U.S. Senate in 1988 as the Republican nominee.
After the loss, former President George Bush appointed her to head the U.S. Small Business Administration. Following that, she entered the private sector. From 1992 to 1998, Engeleiter worked as a Honeywell vice president. She started a new business unit in the former Home and Building Control division in Minneapolis and pumped up revenues from nothing to $200 million in six years.
She now serves as president and chief operating officer of Data Recognition Corporation [Link] in Minneapolis, MN. Data Recognition Corporation (DRC) provides full-service educational testing and assessment programs; customized, large-scale survey programs; production of scannable forms; and digital printing and mailing services.
