Info | My name is Jeff King, and I am hoping for the chance to represent the 1st district of South Carolina in the U.S. House Of Representatives. I am not a politician, nor have I ever run for public office. I am currently a systems engineer for a military contractor. I live in Goose Creek with my wife and our 5 children.
After hearing of Tim Scott’s appointment to the senate, my wife and I were discussing how it was bittersweet that Tim was no longer going to be our representative. Of course we were happy for Tim, and we know he’ll do great things in the Senate, but we felt as though we were losing our community’s voice in the House Of Representatives. Tim Scott is one of our own. Even though Tim was representing us in Washington, he still lived here. Most people that I talk to have a Tim Scott story that usually involves seeing him at church, or the gym, or the grocery store. He is one of us, and he brought our strength and our principles with him to Washington.
This is not the time for us to revert back to sending big name career politicians to the national legislature to be our voice. This country is in a crisis and it is paramount that we elect someone who will serve the people of this district. I will do just that – serve. I will uphold the principles on which this country was founded by voting to reduce the size of the government, cutting and capping the budget, protecting the 2nd amendment, and ensuring our freedom to practice religion.
I may not have experience in the political arena, but that also means that I am void of any political ties or obligations. I have no hidden agendas. Besides, most Americans agree that Washington is in worse shape now than ever before. Isn’t it about time that we took a stand? Isn’t it about time for the working class citizens to rise up against the aristocracy in Washington and demand to be heard? We are all frustrated, and I am simply asking to be the voice of those frustrations. Allow me to serve this community so that we can continue to be proud to call it home.
Thank you and God Bless.
