Info | MYERS, Henry Lee, a Senator from Montana; born near Boonville, Cooper County, Mo., October 9, 1862; attended private schools, Cooper Institute, and Boonville Academy; studied law; admitted to the bar in 1884 and commenced practice in Boonville; moved to Hamilton, Ravalli County, Mont., in 1893; prosecuting attorney of Ravalli County 1895-1899; member, State senate 1899-1903; district judge of the fourth judicial district of Montana 1907-1911; elected as a Democrat to the United States Senate in 1911; reelected in 1916 and served from March 4, 1911, until March 3, 1923; declined to be a candidate for renomination in 1922; chairman, Committee on Irrigation and Reclamation of Arid Lands (Sixty-third Congress), Committee on Public Lands (Sixty-third through Sixty-fifth Congresses), Committee on Indian Depredations (Sixty-sixth Congress); moved to Billings, Mont., in 1923 and continued the practice of his profession; appointed associate justice of the supreme court of Montana 1927; resumed the practice of law in 1929; died in Billings, Mont., November 11, 1943; interment in Riverview Cemetery, Hamilton, Mont.
