Info | Ric Keller, 38, was elected to Congress for the Eighth Congressional District of Florida on November 7, 2000. The current District includes most of Orlando and surrounding Orange County as well as the city of Kissimmee in neighboring Osceola County.
Ric believes that Central Florida is a great place to live, but we can make it better. Specifically, Ric wants to improve education, get the traffic flowing on I-4, and reduce tax rates across the board for everybody.

EDUCATION
Ric graduated from Boone High School in 1982. He received his bachelor's degree from East Tennessee State University, where he graduated first in his class, and got his law degree from Vanderbilt University.
PERSONAL
Ric grew up in Orlando and has lived here for the past 33 years.
A former partner with the law firm of Rumberger, Kirk & Caldwell, P.A., Ric specialized in defending corporations in product liability cases, defending physicians in medical malpractice cases, and working on environmental issues to restore the Florida Everglades.
Ric and his wife, Cathy, live in Orlando along with their six-year-old son, Nick, and their three-year-old daughter, Christy. Ric and his family attend Conway United Methodist Church in Orlando.
COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES
In 1996, Ric Keller co-authored two Amendments to Florida's Constitution, the Everglades Polluter Pays Amendment, and the Everglades Trust Fund. As a result of the Polluter Pays Amendment, approved by 68.1% of the voters as a ballot initiative in November 1996, Florida is the only state whose Constitution requires that polluters, rather than taxpayers, pay to clean up their own pollution.
Ric also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Orlando/Orange County COMPACT Program, a mentoring program for students at risk of dropping out of high school, and he personally volunteered as a mentor to two students at Boone High School.
Florida has a graduation rate of 53%, the worst in the nation. In contrast, 98% of the students in the COMPACT Program stay in school. COMPACT, in partnership with the Central Florida business community, also operates a summer youth employment program which ensures that every teenager in Central Florida who wants a summer job has one.
